Senior Pastor Phil & Desi Robson![]() In December 1985, God called Pastor Phil to shepherd a fledgling congregation of believers in Sabie called Living Waters. Pastor Phil, fresh out of Bible College from Hatfield Christian Church in Pretoria, moved to Sabie with his wife, Desirée, and their two young children, Stephen and Gina. Their third child, Nicole, was born in 1988 in the friendly atmosphere of Sabie Hospital. The Holy Spirit confirmed their call was to a beautiful place of mountains and forests. “You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you and the trees of the field will clap their hands. Instead of thorn bush will grow the pine tree …” (Isaiah 55 : 12 & 13). Faithfulness and perseverance have been the key words in Pastor Phil’s ministry in Sabie and the surrounding areas in which he has seen the church grow slowly but surely into the influential band of believers that it is today. Pastor Phil is known for his clear and anointed Bible-based preaching and teaching. He is also passionate about music and still often leads the church’s worship team. Not afraid of technology and innovation, he uses modern audio visual means to communicate the timeless Word of God. Pastor Phil holds three degrees – a BSc (Wits), majoring in microbiology and genetics (he worked in the Research and Development department of a large chemical company prior to becoming a pastor); more importantly, he holds a B.A. degree in Bible and Theology (I.C.I.) and a B.A. Hons. in Missiology (Unisa). Further to his pastoral duties at Living Waters, Pastor Phil is the regional leader of the Christian Network (TCN) for Mpumalanga, where he encourages and oversees the pastors of several other churches in the region. Being “kingdom-minded,” as he calls it, he facilitates the Sabie Ministers’ Forum and works consistently towards church unity. He is Chairman of the Board of the Theresa Willis Home of Hope, a registered place of safety for orphaned, abused and “at risk” children and also serves on the Board of Shalom Christian School in Graskop. Phil and Desi’s vision is to see the kingdom of God come in power in the Escarpment and Lowveld of Mpumalanga. They dream of a vibrant, relevant, governmental church quenching the spiritual thirst of the region with streams of Living Water. |
Youth Pastor Hein & Ronna Vermaak
A young married couple with a true call on their lives for God’s church. They accepted a call to Living Waters church late in 2013 and started in January 2014 after getting married in December. Hein works full time at the church under Ps Phil as a trainee Pastor and Ronna teaches at Woodlands school.
No one can deny that God orchestrated this young couple to serve here. Hein, originally from Cape Town met Ronna, originally from Virginia USA, when he went up to Pretoria to do a full time course in worship where she was finishing her degree in theology at the time. After getting married God put all the pieces together to prepare a place for them in Sabie where this international couple could live, serve and work. Hein is passionate about biblical teaching and living, believing as a worldwide church we must know God is sovereign, be a united front of brothers and sisters in Christ and love all love people unconditionally as we together strive to be conformed to the image of Christ. As a worshipper he is excited to be in God’s presence and loves using the tool of music to lead people ever deeper into relationship and a face to face experience with God. Ronna loves children and sees education as a key in their lives. Not only does she feel strongly about good education, but also good educators as they are playing one of the most vital roles in the children’s lives. Hein and Ronna are eager to see God’s Kingdom advance in and through their lives. They want to see an uncompromising relationship with The Father established in people’s lives as Jesus’ church grows. They will recently launch a Sunday evening service they have called ENCOUNTER! Read all about ENCOUNTER ! |
